-SIXTH ANNUAL FLY-IN/FAIR
We have just completed the sixth annual NW Mission Aviation Fly-In/Fair Aug 17-19. We’re grateful for all of those that came and made it a successful event. We had 10 organizations with booths represented. Mike Miller of “Dare to Live” ministries was our main speaker. He unfortunately ended up with a migraine Saturday, so we got a replacement speaker in Alan Hamilton and Mike was able to return and minister to us again on Sunday. We enjoyed their ministry to us. We had promised to have a Quest Kodiak there to give rides, but last minute they called to say they were waiting on parts after a major inspection and would not be able to come, however, we gave rides in our MAF 206 to over 60 people, so that was a highlight for some! For those that attended we are looking for input from you as to how to make this better next year. Now’s the time to respond while it’s still fresh in your mind.

Three of our candidates have passed major milestones in their progress towards service on the mission field.

Grant Kainu, one of our newer students did his first solo flight on Aug 13th on his way to earning his private license. Congratulations Grant and welcome aboard!

Eric Reed finished up with his instrument training and passed his check ride. Next will be his CFI rating.

Brian Wilson has joined our students and will complete his Private Pilot’s license hopefully the first week of August. Welcome Brian!

We appreciate your prayer for Servant Wings as we work with these candidates in preparing them for success in missionary work.

-AS THE WEATHER TURNS
This summer has seen our aircraft flying almost every day. Will has had two recent flights to Spokane and back for some of our members. This greatly helps candidates like him to gain needed experience in cross-country flying with passengers. Eric Reed also went to Idaho to help MAF with a Brigade Air flight camp, flying our 172 for those campers to get some flight experience. He came back grateful for the experience. His wife also went along as camp counselor for the gals in the camp who are interested in mission aviation.

Steve Rosier is back with us again more full time after releasing his business. We’re grateful for him to step back into the Chief Pilot role, deciding which instructor works with each student and seeing that our standards are maintained and safety is not compromised. With his passion for missions and a keen eye on excellence in aviation, he is a great asset.

Justin Schlimpert has just joined as a local pilot and CFI that will begin working with our students after his checkout in our aircraft. Justin also comes to us with extensive marketing and sales background and a fair bit of instructional background, so he is also looking at applying for the president position, should the Lord so direct.

Please continue to pray that the students would find the support they need to continue in their training, and that we would mentor them wisely in their spiritual lives as well as their technical knowledge. Pray for general funding for Servant Wings so that we can continue to offer reduced rates for these candidates, keep our aircraft in great working order and safe to fly, and that God would continue to bring us students and other members with a passion for mission aviation.
